R*********r treble-booster
Based on the classic treble-booster circuit used by countless famous guitarists.
Uses 1 germanium transistor, my version has 2 biasing trimpots connected to a socketed transistor, plus drop down resistors connected to the input AND output of the circuit to minimise 'popping'.
I can do this circuit on vero board or 6 lug terminal strip.
Here is a review
of an OC-76 transistor version by Guy - "Hello there Ian,
Well..Wow, what can I say, but It Lives !!
Seriously though, even though it has the toughest treble booster in my collection
to go against, namely the D*A*M Red Rooster Booster. It's reall really good
Ian.
It has more output and with an increase in treble over the D*A*M , it has
more upper mid tone to add to the mix and sounds very much like a half cocked
wah pedal.
So, to summarise : More treble, more output, and more upper mid, for that
half cocked Wah Wah sound.
Also more gain, I tried both units with my '66 AC30 Top Boost model here,
your design worked better than the Red Rooster going in the Normal input jack.
Whereas I can use the Rooster with the top boost channel with the treble and
cut at minimum, Your design is too bright for that channel.
However I Have a '69 Plexi Superlead That I've modded to '68 spec, Each worked
equally well with yours giving more aggression. "
